Production BLOG: Day 5
Day five was the first day of our first two-day weekend, shooting a new location and having to deal with new issues.
Because this shoot is using 'wild sound' we have to address any sound issues on location before we start shooting. In this
particular room we had to set up sound absorbtion blankets to reduce the reflections that are natural to small rooms.
By using wild sound and a more limited lighting toolset, low budget film often feel more honest than their big budget
counterparts. This does not mean that sound is less of an issue in post, the clean up process actually becomes very
involved. ADR and foley became standard in the industry because film cameras make noise, and re-recording all of the sound
elements was really the only solution. Modern digital cameras do not have this issue, so using wild sound is becoming much
more common.
